OTDS Push Connector for OpenText CARS

This topic describes the procedure to configure user and group synchronization from OTDS to OpenText CARS.

Before you begin this task:

Ensure that the Process Platform push connector for OpenText CARS is available in OTDS. See the Process Suite Installation Guide for more details.
If OTDS is configured with SSL, follow the instructions in Using OTDS with SSL to configure the trust between Process Platform and OTDS.

The Process Platform OTDS push connector can be used to synchronize users and groups to the Process Platform LDAP, also known as OpenText CARS. Each configuration manages the synchronization for a specific organization.

To configure the Process Platform Push connector in OTDS, do the following:

  1. Go to Process Platform explorer, click CUSP > My Applications > (User Manager).
  2. Create a new user and assign the Administrator role.
  3. Go to OTDS and do the following:
    1. Create a new user in the Partition that will be synchronized, use the same username and same password as provided in the previous step.

You must select the 'Do not require password change on reset' and 'User cannot change password' options while creating the user; otherwise, OTDS requires this user to change the password on first login.

    2. Create a new Resource and enable User and group synchronization.
    3. Select the Process Platform connector for synchronization.
    4. Specify the Process Platform server URL, the username and password as used in previous steps and the name of the organization where to synchronize to.
    5. Click Test Connection to check the connectivity.
    6. Save the Resource.
    7. Copy the Resource ID.
A new user and resource are created in OTDS.
  4. Go to Process Platform explorer, click CUSP > My Applications > Security Administration and do the following:
    1. Open the OTDS Resources tab and click to create a new resource as follows:
      • Type the name of the resource in the Resource Name field.
      • Select Organization as Space.
      • Type the URL of the OTDS server in OTDS Server URL field.
      • Provide the copied Resource ID.

Do not add /otds-admin/ in the URL. Example:  https://otds-server:8443/. In case an OTDS tenant is used then provide the URL including /otdstenant/<otds-tenant-name>, for example: https://otds-server:8443/otdstenant/acme/.

    2. Save the resource and activate it.
    3. Click Inbound Trust > OTDS Trust tab.
    4. In the Organization Configuration, select the created resource and save.
  5. Go to OTDS and do the following:
    1. Verify the Activation status of the resource and click OK.
    2. Open Access Roles and click Actions > 'View Access Role Details' in the menu items.
    3. Add the Partition you want to synchronize.

To force a synchronization of the users and groups, you must click Actions on the required resource and select Consolidate.
